  • 1. How can I become involved as a volunteer at Belsouth?

Belsouth relies on the contribution of volunteers. All committee members are volunteers. There are many opportunities to become an active part of your local community, and being involved with Belsouth is also an opportunity to make a contribution to enjoyment.

Belsouth provides soccer enjoyment to about 1000 players and you do not have to be a soccer expert to be involved! Do you have some skills to share that you think could be of help to Belsouth? They may be administrative or communication skills. Why not talk to a committee member?

How else can you have a sense of involvement?

    - Watch your children play

    - Help your team with its field set-up

    - Run a sideline

    - Help in the canteen

    - Coach or manage a team

    - Help your coach at training

  • 2. I don't know much about soccer, can I still join the Committee?

Absolutely! We need people will all sorts of skills and talents and we welcome any assistance you can provide. There is a vast range of things to be done before, during and after the season to get the kids and adults on the field each week. Come and have some fun and meet some new people, or catch up with those you've known for some time.

So if you want to play a bigger part in the running of Belsouth, come along to our AGM or have a chat to another Committee member for more information.

  • 3. When does the season start and end?

Refer to the Club Calendar for the season start and finish dates.

  • 4. Where can I purchase Belsouth gear?

At Belsouth we have a range of merchandise for sale, available at the Murranji Street playing fields each Saturday.

The Club Merchandise page has more information.

  • 5. What does my child need to wear to play for Belsouth?

All players (U7 and above) need to wear white shorts and Belsouth socks. See the Club Merchandise page to find out how to purchase gear.

For Minis, shirts are provided by the Club at the beginning of the season, and are returned to the Club at end of season.

Shin pads are mandatory for games and practice for all players.

Football boots should be worn by all players but are not mandatory for younger age groups.

  • 6. When will I know which team my child will play in?

Players are allocated to teams once registrations close. Information provided by parents and the outcomes of grading sessions (for children playing Under 10 nd up) will be used to allocate players. The number of players per team is based on the age group. More information can be found in . Once teams are known, the team manager will contact all players in that team to let them know.

  • 7. When should I register my child for soccer this year?

Please register as soon as possible, or by the end of February. New registrations after this date will be accepted subject to availability of places in teams.

  • 8. Will there be an information session for parents?

There will be an information day on Saturday 21st February at Belsouth Soccer Club, Cnr Springvale Dr and Belconnen Way, Hawker. Representatives from Belsouth will be available to answer questions. Cash, cheques and money orders for registration will also be accepted, however there will be no credit card facilities available. Please complete your online registration before coming to the information session.

Club merchandise such as Belsouth socks and white playing shorts will be available for purchase.

  • 9. How do I know which age group my child should play in?

A player’s true age group is most simply understood with reference to the birthday reached during the playing year. A player turning 11 during the current calendar year is an Under 11, one turning 13 is an Under 13, etc.

Dispensation may be granted to play up a year above one’s true age group. This is most often the case for someone to play in the same team as his or her school year group. Contact the age coordinator to discuss the issue if you would like your child to play up an age group.

Girls playing in mixed-teams may also play one age group younger than their true age group.

  • 10. How do I find my FFA number?

If you have registered your child before 2014 with the Football Federation of Australia (FFA) for any club in Australia, you can use the same FFA number to register with Belsouth. If you have forgotten the number click here to find it.

If you need to obtain a new number (you have never registered before), you can set up a new FFA account here.
